In a county that dates back more than two centuries, the stories are filled with fascinating facts and historic figures, while the architecture is rich in character.
The Daviess County Museum is dedicated to the preservation of the 200-year history of Daviess County, IN through exhibits, programs, archives, and more.
The county’s history of sacrifice runs deep here; the earliest veterans in Daviess County were former soldiers of the Revolutionary War. Today, four beautifully designed war memorials are popular spots for reflection.
Showcasing exemplary historic architecture, both St. Peter’s Catholic Church and the Washington Carnegie Library are essential sites to explore. St. Peter’s, established in a humble log cabin in 1818 and later expanded to a graceful brick structure by 1869, reflects the growth and significance of one of Indiana's oldest parishes. Meanwhile, the Washington Carnegie Library, funded by Andrew Carnegie at the turn of the 20th century, stands as a testament to his vision of promoting national literacy.
